African Insight is totally committed to Responsible Tourism, not through a well documented policy or lofty mission statement but in the “DNA” of the business which affects every aspect of the business. We have neither reached perfection nor believe we have all the answers in terms of responsible tourism. Perhaps we do not even know all the questions. But we do believe the only way to reach the goals is by small sure steps and simple solutions.
The aim of this section of the African Insight blog is easier to unpack by starting with what the aim is not. It is not to a platform to launch into the academic discussion or the technicalities that constitute or define responsible tourism, it’s policies and measurement. We will leave that to the academics and technocrats!
What we aim to do is to (i) share interesting information of how responsible tourism is being done by African Insight and its partners and, (ii) in the context of our business, to share useful information that will help people to be more “responsible” travellers. This will take the form of case studies, position statements on various aspects of tourism and codes of best practice.
