This week staff from African Insight delivered approximately 75 kg of good quality used clothes to Lily of the Valley Children’s Village. These clothes were generously donated by students from various UK Colleges that have recently done academic field trips to South Africa organised by African Insight.
Lily of the Valley is a Children’s Home providing care, love and support to children abandoned or orphaned due to parental AIDS suffering. Children are housed in 23 self-contained 3 bed-roomed cottages on the property each with fitted kitchen, bathroom and lounge. A full time house Mother looks after six children in each house and fulfils the role of a real Mother in her care by cooking cleaning, helping with homework and giving the comfort and affection that all children need in order to thrive.
Direct involvement with the neighbouring community is the most effective way to fight the spread of the AIDS/HIV epidemic and to cope with its disastrous effects on a local level. Towards this objective they aid and empower the needy and impoverished people so that they become healthy, confident and self-reliant.
African Insight would like to thank all the students who have so generously donated these items as well as Lily of the Valley for doing such an amazing job in raising, teaching and mentoring these young people so that they can realize their full potential as individuals and members of society.
